Hemp milk

We’ve probably all tasted at least one plant milk – almond, rice or oat – which is a great substitute for the cow’s milk we usually eat. Today, we suggest you make and taste cannabis milk. Hemp milk is made from unhulled hemp seeds, which are extremely nutritious and rich in essential Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids in a 1:3 ratio, one of the best ratios in any plant crop. Hemp seeds are also packed with a wide range of macro- and  micronutrients, from potassium to phosphorus, but the most abundant is vitamin B3 – niacin. Niacin is very important for our bodies because it lowers cholesterol, dilates blood vessels and lowers blood pressure.

Milk made at home from high-quality unhulled hemp seeds will be packed with plant protein, healthy fats and minerals. It can be beneficial for skin health due to the vitamins A, B12, D and E it contains.If you apply hemp milk to your skin daily, you may notice a moisturised, brighter complexion over time.

Hemp milk has an earthy, nutty taste and a creamy consistency. It can be used in place of cow’s milk, for example in smoothies, coffee and cereals.

Although seeds and water are enough to make hemp milk, feel free to add salt and your favourite sweeteners to discover your favourite hemp milk recipe!

You will need:

1 l of water

½-1 cup unhulled hemp seeds

A pinch of salt (optional)

Your favourite sweetener (optional)

In the evening, soak the seeds in water and leave them to soak for 8-10 hours. Rinse the seeds, put them in a food processor, add water and pulse until the water turns white or the seeds turn soft. Strain the resulting milk through a thick cheesecloth. Season with a pinch of salt, your favourite sweetener or enjoy the natural taste of hemp milk. Store tightly in the fridge. Consume within one week.

Use hemp milk in place of regular cow’s milk, in porridge, breakfast cereals, baked goods and smoothies. The creamy consistency of this milk makes it ideal for coffee, other drinks and baked goods.
