CBD for Dogs and what are the benefits for animals, what are the benefits of CBD for dogs, cats, pets? We at Magu Space are animal lovers, we see animals all the time, we enjoy them, we take care of them, we relax around them, they are our friends. That’s why we do our best to take care of them, to keep them healthy and well. For these reasons, livestock farmers are increasingly choosing natural hemp products with CBD.
CBD is cannabidiol, which is found naturally in hemp.
CBD Benefits for Animals How does CBD benefit your dog and cat?
Your pet has an endocannabinoid system, just like humans. It is a complex cell signalling system that was only discovered in the early 1990s by scientists studying the cannabinoid tetrahydrocannabinol, THC, a naturally occurring cannabinoid in hemp.
The endocannabinoid system is still undergoing research to understand how it works, but it is well established that it plays an important role in regulating a wide range of functions and processes such as sleep, mood, appetite, memory and fertility. The endocannabinoid system is present and active in your body even if you do not consume cannabis products.
CBD acts on the endocannabinoid system by stimulating the nervous, digestive and immune systems and the brain. In this way, CBD can help relieve pain, nausea and other symptoms of indigestion. That’s why CBD can benefit your pet.
Joint problems in pets
If your dog or cat suffers from joint pain, your vet may prescribe painkillers, but all chemical drugs have side effects and can adversely affect your dog or cat’s joints and soft tissues, damaging the liver, kidneys or the like. Meanwhile, CBD oil is a natural remedy that does not cause side effects like some medicines. CBD oil works by influencing the endocannabinoid system, which stimulates the immune system to reduce inflammation, as well as altering the brain’s response to pain. Researchers at Cornell University conducted a study looking at the side effects of cannabidiol oil and how CBD affects the analgesic efficacy in dogs. This study found that dogs treated twice daily with 2mg/kg CBD oil for osteoarthritis were more active and had less pain and no side effects.
Cancer
Unfortunately, this is still very much the case. Cancer researchers are constantly looking for new ways to treat cancer and reduce the pain and nausea caused by chemotherapy or radiation. CBD has been studied quite extensively as a drug that could cure cancer. Studies have shown that CBD slowed the growth of mammary cancer cells, increased the survival rate of mice with pancreatic cancer, slowed the growth of tumours, increased the effectiveness of conventional cancer treatments, CBD killed cancer cells by preventing them from feeding, and CBD activates the immune system. CBD can help with nausea caused by treatments and can also reduce pain.
Seizures and epilepsy – CBD study in dogs
Epilepsy in dogs, cats and humans is a complex brain disease with a long-term tendency to cause recurrent epileptic seizures. Your vet can prescribe anticonvulsant drugs, but they don’t always help, and they also cause a variety of side effects, damaging the liver and other organs. Researchers were surprised to find that taking CBD reduced seizures in dogs by as much as 89%. In human and paediatric studies, CBD has worked even in forms of epilepsy that are resistant to marketed drugs. This led to the development and commercialisation of Epidyolex, an anticonvulsant medicine for people with seizures based on CBD. It has been successful in reducing epileptic seizures in humans.
Anxiety or stress
Just like humans, dogs and cats are stressed by certain changes, it’s inevitable. Anxiety comes in many forms, such as: fear of sounds and other familiar stimuli, separation, avoidance of attention, aggression. CBD oil is an excellent anti-anxiety and insomnia treatment, even for children with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). CBD’s biggest advantage is that it has no dangerous side effects.
Pain
Just like our pets, we all experience pain in one way or another. CBD is excellent at inhibiting pain perception by binding to receptors in the brain and nervous system, and can also reduce inflammation and manage acute pain after injury.
Allergies
It spreads not only between people, but also between dogs and cats, which is very difficult to treat. Skin lesions are a serious enough reason to visit the vet. CBD can also help with this problem, as the skin also contains an endocannabinoid system that is affected by cannabidiol. It can help reduce dryness and itchiness and stimulate the growth of new healthy skin cells.
Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)
Italian scientists have provided the first evidence of CBD’s ability to reduce inflammation caused by LPS in dogs in a study published in September 2021. Of course, this discovery encourages further research into the therapeutic role of CBD for dogs in veterinary medicine.
CBD can therefore help your pet in many ways, but we suggest that you choose only quality products, as the use of CBD oil is not regulated in the EU, so you need to be very careful when choosing a product to avoid being deceived.
Magu Space offers you just such a product – a quality CBD oil for animals that can help your pet feel better. It is a full-spectrum CBD oil, laboratory tested, extracted and GMP certified. Be sure to consult your veterinarian about its use.
